Let’s hope the suit doesn’t go in Fox’s favor, or we might not to get to see the Watchmen movie in March 2009.
According to Variety news, Fox is in the midst of a lawsuit against Warner Bros stemming from the fact that Fox accuses WB of infringing it’s copyright to the “Watchmen” property. I believe from this argument that Fox owns theatrical, distribution, and any other rights associated with the “Watchmen” entity.
If that’s the case, why wait until the pending release of the movie to lay down the law? Apparently Fox does not want a profit share, but instead wants the project to be canned altogether. No “Watchmen” for 09? That can be the case if Fox gets their way in the courtroom.
My question is, who in WB was researching the rights to “Watchmen” before the actual project was given the green light? Also, why did Fox wait until the movie was done before making an issue out of it? You have to know that a major studio like WB was working on a project of this magnitude long before it was finished. I’m sure there’s plenty of red tape issues going on behind closed doors.
I have yet to read the novel but heard plenty of buzz about it. I hope to put a review of the novel soon and also update all of you on the pending case. Til then, let’s keep our fingers crossed because I do want to see this movie in theaters.

none
it’s very obvious that Fox would wait until the production was complete, that way if the movie doesn’t come out, WB has no way of making any of the money it invested into it.
It’s smart but dirty tactics on Fox’s part. Why in the world would they STOP them from making the movie, to save WB money? lol

By now I just assume that Fox doesn’t like people who don’t watch reality shows. Since they like to cancel everything good why not ruin the movie version of the best graphic novel ever. And yeah, the novel is awesome. Best ending ever.
